The ENGAGE for ESG Templates for Mortgages & Home Renovation Loans

The ENGAGE Templates are an industry-developed reporting standard for compliance with the main EU sustainability disclosure requirements related to residential real estate financing, starting with the Taxonomy Regulation.

The ENGAGE Templates are based on the ESMA templates under Regulation (EU) 2017/2402 (Securitisation Regulation) and aim to provide a one-size-fits-all solution for lending institutions to meet the EU sustainability transparency requirements in a consistent and harmonised way.

Ensuring Compatibility with Evolving Green Standards

The ENGAGE Templates can be used for a portfolio of loans, for a specific funding structure or for an unsecured green bond transaction. The Templates are also suitable for covered bond assets.

Fields in the ENGAGE Templates are based on specific alignment checks with the relevant section(s) of Annex I of the Climate Delegated Act. Where information is not available, the ENGAGE Templates provide with the possibility to use “no data” options.

The ENGAGE Consortium reviews the ENGAGE taxonomy and data fields on a regular basis to incorporate improvements and finetune the requirements.

Version 1.1 of the ENGAGE Templates is available to all EU lending institutions and investors to explore and test.

The Templates cover the data fields necessary to align mortgage loans with the substantial contribution criteria for climate change mitigation and the do no significant harm principle of the Climate Delegated Act, as well as with the minimum safeguards.

UCI and NN Bank, ENGAGE Pilot Partners, submitted their first data samples via the ENGAGE Templates during Q3 2024 and regularly present their experiences in using the Templates and Portal at ENGAGE webinars and events.
